Kassel.
Wolfsanger is a post-war housing neighbourhood in the periphery of Kassel.

Kassel.
We developed a masterplan for the densification and the expansion of Wolfsanger. Considering the slight terrain inclination of the site, we worked with cascades like those of Wilhelmshöhe.

Kassel.
The new buildings are organized along axes with a cascade in the middle. New volumes are placed also between existing housing blocks to strenghten their connection with the new neighbourhoods.

Kassel.
The new buildings are suspended on pilotis: the soil remains unsealed and keeps its water retention capacity intact.

Kassel.
The cascades are filled with rainwater: they increasing the water retention capacity of the area, and when they are empty, they are used as collective spaces for the neighbourhood.

The new housing typologies are conceived to satisfy the needs of a broad variety of households. Punctual elements are interrupted by linear buildings parallel to the cascade.

Between the rows of buildings are parks which reconnect with the natural landscape.

By blending with nature, the masterplan softens the boundary between city and countryside.
